What began as an idea for a small professional library at a new office has grown into 1,400 selections in the Ebony Vision Lending Library.

We host a collection of books curated specifically for the Black community and our neighbors and allies. Our books reflect Black authorship, Black characters, and Black contributions to the arts and history.

We have contributed books throughout the community for kids in secure detention, to the Maplewood Commons neighborhood, to schools and even to the waiting area in family court.

Our goal is simple: get books into the hands of readers to encourage literacy and a love of literature.

We enjoy partnering with others in the community to match books to readers. Anyone can drop off books to the Ebony Vision office, where our library is housed, during normal business operations.

Kyonna W. Henry is a board member of Ebony Vision.

Sara Donation Oct 2024.jpg

Today at the EBONY VISION office, we organized clothing and personal donations from 9AM-12PM. Many generous people contributed and we enjoyed connecting with both old and new friends. Despite the divisive world, I sense a grassroots desire to build community and support another. If you'd like to contribute please message me. Special thanks to Susanne and Tammy for their help today.

Juneteenth is a day to celebrate freedom, reflect on African American history and culture, and promote education and self-improvement. It is often marked by various events, including parades, music festivals, community gatherings, educational programs, and family reunions. Traditional foods, such as barbecue and red foods (symbolizing resilience and ingenuity), are often enjoyed during Juneteenth celebrations.

Great Collaboration!
Black students at Fondy High receive donations of hair care products.  Carrie Ahern-Co. Youth Advocate reached out to some organizations like United Way and asked to help in the much-needed project. MPTC’s Community Engagement Cross functional Team $750

Marian University’s Social Work Intern $350

Ebony Vision $250

We know how expensive it is for hair care products and it all came together.

Thank you for your support!
